2001, Gettysburg, PA
2000 was so much fun, including David Schildknect’s midnight tour of the Gettysburg battlefield, that in 2001 we reconvened in Gettysburg, PA to try it again.
David Thompson (pictured talking to New England Chapter Chair David Bueker on the left, center) conducted the afternoon wine tasting. His theme was “QBA to TBA,” and featured many older vintages. This led to many satisfied tasters, including these two, Jim Hamilton, and Mark Squires, our webmaster, on the right, from the Philadelphia chapter.
The banquet menu and wine list, with discussion led by David Schildknecht, pictured here with national president Beth Sheligo, is set forth below. Many of you will remember David as the former wine manager of “Plain Old Pearsons” in Washington, D.C. David reviews German wines for The International Wine Cellar and wrote a well-received article on German wines for the December 1999 issue of Wine and Spirits Magazine. Working with Valckenberg International, he has created a program that will compare three or four different growers of different sites in three different vintages., were as follows:
