To your health – the San Francisco German Wine Society Newsletter
Members and guests of Members of the San Francisco Chapter of the German Wine Society will gather on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm for a Spectacular tasting of 30 wines. The event will be at the home of Barry and Joan Boothe (2435 Divisadero Street in San Francisco). Street parking is available in the area.
Food: There will be our usual buffet spread of enough delectable food to make a full meal, including dessert.
Wine: We will have three flights of wines featuringa)several grape varietals (Riesling, Rosé, Spätburgunder, Grauer Burgundy, and Scheurebe); b) wines from several regions (Rheingau, Mosel, Ruwer,Rheinhessen, Pfalz, Baden, and Nahe); c) several categories of wines (Sekt Trocken, Sekt Brut, Prestige Brut, Trocken GG, Trocken Alte Reben, “1000L” – off dry, Kabinett, Spätlese, Eiswein, Auslese, Beerenauslese, and Trockenbeerenauslese) and d) wines from many vintages (1976, 1994, 2000, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017). This will be another wonderful evening of fine & rare German wines from the Chapter cellar and the cellar of our Chapter President. We look forward to seeing you!
Cost: This event is a Members Only event and is free for 2024 Dues Paid Members ( Members Only means that each 2024 Dues Paid Member may bring one guest and the Member and the one guest may both attend for free ). In keeping with the Board’s policy to recruit new Members, a serious prospective Member who has never attended a GWS Event may also attend the 2-24-24 Event for free, if invited by a 2024 Dues Paid Member.RSVP’s (including the names of any guests) are required by Monday, February 19, 2024 to give us sufficient time to ensure we have the amount of food necessary to serve all attendees.

To attend this event, we require that each attendee must be fully vaccinated against COVID 19 at the time of the event, per CDC guidelines in effect 1-23-24. Also, we request that you take a home COVID Test not more than 24 hours before the event (preferably the day of the event).
Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies.
All Society members and guests are reminded that alcohol consumption can lead to intoxication and therefore Society members and their guests are expected to drink in moderation at Society events. We suggest those attending either utilize designated drivers or other modes of transit where available, or mostly taste rather than consume alcohol when such drivers or alternative means of transportation are not available.
